  • Beernaert secures Youth Olympic gold in spectacle of stages in Buenos Aires
Though deciding medallists based on combined results makes for some head-scratching at the end of an event, the drama the format provides was evident on the fourth day of athletics at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympics Games on Sunday (14). No more so than in the women’s long jump, where a single centimetre separated the three medallists after a bout of last-round drama.
  • Three race records fall in wind-swept Lisbon
The fast-acting organisers of the EDP Lisbon Marathon and Vodafone Half Marathon delayed the start times of both races by an hour and moved the location of the start line for the half marathon to avoid the strong winds of Hurricane Leslie on Sunday (14).
  • Road round-up: Tsegay and Claude-Boxberger prevail in Paris, Cheptegei triumphs in Durban
Eritrea’s Samuel Tsegay and France’s Ophélie Claude-Boxberger took top honours at the 20km de Paris on Sunday (14), winning the 40th edition of the IAAF Bronze Label road race in 58:23 and 1:09:48 respectively.

    XC Relays 2015 - Report

Miranda Park was again our host venue for State Cross Country relays. Our club did very well. We entered 9 teams and 3 individual runners for this competition. The medal tally is 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. This certainly could have been better but few of our runners were out with injuries and that affected some teams especially U18 girls and Open women.

Our presentation was at the 18 Footers Club on the harbour (literally – we had the balcony all to ourselves!) and 29 attendees enjoyed the night. The venue was fantastic with awesome view and dinner was really good too. We have some photos available at our Facebook page.

    2014 State Relays - Report

State relays this year were very successful for Randwick Botany Harriers. Many athletes responded to our initial call and that resulted in 19 of our teams being entered for this competition. After some good running at State 3k Championships, there was a rumour going around that our Open Men 4x1500m team would attempt to break state record. There was also some excitement among junior runners. All this contributed to exceptional medal tally of 4 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medal. Last year we had only 2 gold and 3 silver.
