  • Polish coach Czapiewski dies
    The IAAF is deeply saddened to hear that Polish athletics coach Wieslaw Czapiewski died on Saturday at the age of 59.

    Ethiopia’s Degitu Azmeraw smashed the women’s course record at the TCS Amsterdam Marathon with 2:19:26, the second-fastest debut in history for the distance, while Kenya’s Vincent Kipchumba won a close men’s contest in 2:05:09 at the IAAF Gold Label road race on Sunday (20).

    Three-time world 20km race walk champion and 50km world record-holder Liu Hong will lead a strong Chinese contingent aiming to win both the individual and team titles at the Around Taihu International Race Walking competition, the last leg of this year’s IAAF Race Walking Challenge that will start on Sunday (20).

    Presentation Night

    The presentation night is on the second floor of the Doncaster Hotel, 268 Anzac Pde Kensington at 7.30pm on Thursday 26 November. The presentation recognizes our Outstanding Achievement*, Hergenhan, Curotta and Distance trophies along with record-breakers, Master's Achievement and International Achievement awards. This is always a fun social occasion and the awards ceremony is just a bonus!

     

    Admission is free and children are welcome. The Doncaster has kindly waived the usual $1200 fee to use their function area so Members are encouraged to dine at their bistro beforehand.

    *The Club is looking for a new sponsor for our Outstanding Achievement perpetual trophy. The trophy is usually awarded to a member who is of international standard and who may need financial support to train full time.
