Function for Jeff Hunt, Jeremy Roff & Steven Solomon

One of our traditions at Randwick-Botany Harriers is to support our members who are selected to compete in major International Competitions. Jeff and Jeremy have been selected to compete in the Commonwealth Games in India and Steven selected for the World Juniors in Canada.

On Sunday 27th June we held a function at the Coogee Bowling Club to recognise the achievements of these athletes. The event also doubled as a fund raiser to assist Jeremy & Jeff with their pre games expenses. It is necessary for them to travel overseas prior to the Games to obtain the type of competition they need for the build up to such a major event.

We believe the night was very successful in that it achieved the outcomes we wanted. It was reasonably well attended, everybody was able to mingle, hear from and meet with the athletes. Social events such as this bring old and new members together and help to establish the group’s identity and culture. The food was excellent and the event was a financial success, thus enable the club to make a substantial contribution toward Jeremy & Jeff’s expenses.

We would like to thank those who attended the function or supported the event in other ways. It goes without saying that we wish our athletes well in their endeavours to reach the top of their chosen event.
